research overview

  • Professor Lester’s research focuses on the social and religious history of Europe during the High Middle Ages (1000-1400). She co-edited and contributed to the collection of essays entitled, Center and Periphery: Studies on Power in the Medieval World in Honor of William Chester Jordan (Brill, 2013). Her new research focuses on the material history of devotion during the period of the crusades and is currently writing a book entitled, Fragments of Devotion: Relics and Remembrance in the Time of the Fourth Crusade, which considers the role and migration of holy objects from the east into France during the thirteenth century.
