Katie Van Horne leads research practice partnerships, collaborations between researchers and school districts, to design, research, and implement curriculum and professional learning to support implementation of reform efforts in science education. Her research examines student experiences of coherence, relevance, and contribution in science classrooms and how to best support teachers to co-design and implement phenomena-based learning in their classrooms. She is particularly interested in how students can engage in contemporary science within the school context. Van Horne is a research assistant professor in the Institute of Cognitive Science and the School of Education at the University of Colorado Boulder.
