Dr. Liao's research is focused on using coherent light sources (in the infrared, visible, extreme ultraviolet, and x-rays spectral ranges) to probe quantum effects in atoms, molecules, and materials—unveiling complex light-matter interactions on a nanometer spatial scale and femtosecond or sub-femtosecond timescale.
