research overview

  • Scott Thaller's work primarily focuses on using the Langmuir Probe and Waves (LPW) instrument dataset and other MAVEN datasets to conduct research on the Mars ionosphere-thermosphere system, specifically atmospheric tides and their impact on the ionosphere. In addition, Scott uses the MAVEN datasets to study ion-cyclotron waves and bipolar electric field structures in the Mars magnetosheath. Scott Thaller also has involvement in heliospheric space physics research, primarily using the Van Allen Probes datasets to study the role of DC electric fields in plasma advection in the inner magnetosphere.
