Dr. Davis' research is focused on the history of jazz and organizational leadership. In 2013, he completed the Historical Dictionary of Jazz, published by Scarecrow Press, Inc. He continues to work on new manuscripts including a 'Listener's Guide to Duke Ellington,' for publication consideration by Scarecrow Press, Inc. Additionally, he serves as a guest conductor in residence for festivals in the U.S. and Canada.

Examines concepts and approaches for leaders of small, medium and large arts organizations in both the for-profit and nonprofit sectors, including human resource management and effective communication.
