  • Dr. Reed's research is focused on Internet and telecommunications technology, policy, and network economics. His work applies interdisciplinary research methods to examine the evolution of public and private telecommunications infrastructure to advanced wireless and wireline broadband platforms and the resulting implications on business strategy and public policy. Examples of his current research include 1) the costs of wireline and wireless broadband local access network technologies in order to better understand the prospects for competition in the provision of broadband Internet access services. best practices of broadband mapping, forecasting and planning for the growth of broadband network capacity, 2) developing broadband roadmaps to address the Digital Divide and for emerging countries, and 3) developing efficient spectrum management models to support broadband deployments.
