  • Research has included: Analysis of the signification and performative aspects of Auschwitz concentration camp tattoos and 9/11 memorial tattoos, while considering the changes in meaning and interpretation that occur within and throughout space and time. In 6 chapters I explore differing semiotic and performative aspects of tattoos through various trauma theories. Ultimately, explores the relationship between tattoos and identity grounded in trauma, as a form of visual narratology within the communication and rhetoric field, guided by the semiotic tradition and the field of performance studies Analysis of political discourse using framing theory as well as metaphorical and ideological criticism surrounding Syrian refugee crisis. Specifically, research focused on the different rhetorical styles and discourse tactics of three prominent U.S. politicians via social media. Analyzed discourse via use of metaphors and ideographs in relation to Syrian refugees.

    Helps develop basic communication skills to prepare you for success in the business world. This communication and social science theory-based, skill-building course is framed in Fiske and Cuddy's person perception theory that all people are perceived on two dimensions, competence and warmth. You will learn how to use communication skills to strategically demonstrate those dimensions.
  • BCOR 2202 - Principles of Organizational Behavior
    Primary Instructor - Fall 2022
    Focuses on the fundamentals of management. Students will learn the basic concepts and best practices in the behavioral sciences that can improve their abilities to lead and manage in organizations. Frameworks for individual, team, and organizational behavior are presented and discussed. Topics include personality traits, culture, decision making, teams, planning, motivation, leadership, well-being and human resources. A group project provides practice in teamwork and in applying the frameworks in practice. Credit not granted for this course and BCOR 2300, BCOR 2001

    The course takes as its starting point the fact that not all students will be leaders. A student may end up as an individual contributor, or manager of a small group of people, or an owner of a sole-proprietorship.
