research overview

  • Xuguang Cai is a member of NASA GOLD mission in CU LASP. He utilizes geo-stationary satellites, together with general circulation models (TIE-GCM and WACCM-X) to study the thermosphere and ionosphere responses to geomagnetic forcing, lower atmospheric forcing and solar radiation variations. The typical example of his research is the thermosphere composition responses to geomagnetic disturbance, and the nighttime equatorial ionization anomaly. Several papers of his work on GOLD have been reported by NASA Goddard Space Flight Center.
