Taking accurate measurements are the anchor to reality in all HSDE analysis. This course introduces the three important high speed measurement instruments; the VNA, the TDR and the high-speed oscilloscope. Measurements above 200 MHz bandwidth require special considerations. Topics covered include S-parameter analysis of interconnects, de-embedding, probing methods, measurement-simulation correlation and building circuit topology models from S-parameters. Recommended prerequisite: students are expected to have completed an electromagnetics course during their undergraduate curriculum; in the CU curriculum it would be ECEN 3400.
