  • Investigates the status of ancient historians as outsiders/exiles as well as other approaches to, and theories about, historiography as we read four of the most brilliant ancient historians (Herodotus, Thucydides, Sallust, and Tacitus) as well as the biographer Plutarch. We�ll also explore two fascinating periods of classical history: the Persian and Peloponnesian Wars of fifth-century BCE Greece and the fall of the Roman Republic and the early Roman Empire, about 100 BCE to 70 CE.
