  • Explores the cultural, social and political history of African Americans after 1865. Focuses on African American social movements, the diversity of the African American communities, as well as a critical examination of the African Americans´┐Ż relationship to the United States. Students in this course will study the advances made in the years following Emancipation as well as the continued challenges for Black freedom in the U.S. Recommended prerequisite: HIST 1025.
