  • Dr. Davis' research is focused on the history of jazz and organizational leadership. In 2013, he completed the Historical Dictionary of Jazz, published by Scarecrow Press, Inc. He continues to work on new manuscripts including a 'Listener's Guide to Duke Ellington,' for publication consideration by Scarecrow Press, Inc. Additionally, he serves as a guest conductor in residence for festivals in the U.S. and Canada.

  • MUSC 5938 - Management and Leadership in the Arts
    Primary Instructor - Spring 2019 / Spring 2020 / Spring 2021 / Spring 2022
    Focus on management, leadership, and communication strategies and their application to arts organizations. Concepts and approaches for leaders of small, medium, and large arts organizations in both the for-profit and nonprofit sectors, including human resource management, problem solving, and effective communication will be examined. Students will practice and refine their written communication skills by writing clearly and concisely throughout the course. Same as MUSC 4968.
