research overview

  • Soraya Latiff has in 2023-2023 researched guidelines and norms for equitable and youth-centered youth-adult partnerships that has guided and supported work with young people from every school in BVSD. This research was done in partnership with CU Dialogues and her role as a founder and co-facilitator of BVSD's Youth Equity Council. Latiff and her team was funded by WISE to continue a second year of research to sustain youth-led ethnic studies curriculum in Boulder and now more broadly Colorado. The original ethnic studies curriculum movement started through the Public Achievement program has now supported three more schools to be moving forward with an ethnic studies curriculum in BVSD. Lastly, Latiff is part of a work in partnership with Aquetza and the Lafayette Youth Advisory Council to engage in community and schools around ethnic studies curriculum led by youth (YES4CO) and is on the research team for the experience of and the impact of this work.
