research overview
- Broadly I am a filmmaker whose work pulls from non-fiction filmmaking, dance, narrative production, emergent technologies, and performance modalities. My work is politically grounded and engages critically with complex themes such as systems of power, gender scripts, and the history of disease. My current research is born from a paradox that arises when working with the moving image: How can the tools of media production, which, in the Foucauldian sense, discipline human bodies, also act as tools of liberation? My strategies include collage, the erotic, humor, and camp.
