  • Putting the User First by Courtney Greene McDonald is an accessible, action-focused handbook full of ideas for improving user experience right away and in any library. It will be published by ACRL in late August 2014 as part of its new Strategies series.; McDonald, head of Discovery and Research Services at Indiana University Bloomington, is also co-author of The Anywhere Library: A Primer for the Mobile Web. McDonald’s scholarly writing currently focuses on discovery tools and mobile services in academic libraries. Her most significant recent projects include overseeing the migration of the IUB Libraries’ 8000+ page site from a legacy, homegrown content management system to Drupal, and the implementation of an open source discovery layer (Blacklight) as the public interface for IUCAT, the Indiana University Libraries’ shared statewide online catalog.
