Three products from Propellerheads Software are reviewed. ReCycle! is mainly a tool for a special type of slicing of loops that permit flexible tempo transformations, as well as the editing and shuffling of resultant slices. ReBirth sets out to reconstruct, in software, both the sound and the experience of working with three legendary pieces of hardware made by Roland: the TB-303 bassline synthesizer, and the TR-808 and TR-909 drum machines. Reason is an array of tools useful for experimenting with digital sound.
