My current research areas are related to engineering education with regards to ethics, leadership, and sociotechnical problem solving. Additionally, I begun an undergraduate research program focused on standardization and advance dynamic testing of outdoor gear, including dynamic modeling and advanced data science applications.
For the past few years, my research and outreach has been in 1) industry relationships and workforce development in interdisciplinary programs, 2) student and faculty professional development, and 3) ethics, leadership, and sociotechnical thinking in engineering education. I am currently active in ethics, leadership, and sociotechnical integration into engineering education research. My past research was focused advanced and SMART manufacturing systems.
GEEN 1400 - Engineering Projects
First-year students solve real engineering design problems in interdisciplinary teams. Design projects vary by section. Curriculum focuses on iterative design process, teamwork and team dynamics, supporting design with testing and analysis, and technical writing. Completed projects are exhibited at an end-of-semester design expo. Students responsible for contributing towards their design project budget and poster costs, and purchasing safety glasses (approximately $75).
MCEN 4026 - Manufacturing Processes and Systems
Spring 2018 / Summer 2018 / Spring 2022 / Spring 2023
Examines manufacturing processes for metals, polymers, and composites as well as manufacturing systems that integrate these processes. Lecture topics include forming, machining, joining, assembling, process integration, computer-aided manufacturing, and manufacturing system engineering.
