The process by which new species arise is fundamental to understanding lifes diversity, with implications for how we define and protect species. In this class, we will explore models of adaptive and non-adaptive speciation and how we test, find evidence for, and distinguish among these. Each class will include both a short lecture and discussion. Students will be able to choose and work on independent projects on any area of speciation research. Recommended prerequisites: EBIO 1220 and EBIO 3080. Same as EBIO 4040.
