Examines the education of children from immigrant families with a focus on the relationship between education, im/migration, and citizenship. We will analyze the economic, social, political and ideological contexts of immigrant education and ways im/migrant students and families respond to these contexts as they forge their identities and develop their own educational goals. Topics include policy and pedagogical approaches, educational quality and access, language, culture, and identity, transnational relations, community and family engagement, and immigrant social movements.
