  • This course explores pedagogical approaches for developing nonnative speakers' oral English proficiency and communication skills. We explore the practical and theoretical aspects of teaching the macroskills - listening and speaking - as well as related microskills, including pronunciation, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. Pedagogical concepts are considered through the lens of various teaching contexts for learners of all ages and backgrounds. Praxis occurs through lesson development and analysis and interactions with language learners in the community. Recommended prerequisite or corequisite: LING 4630. Recommended prerequisite: LING 3100. Same as LING 5620.
