This is a summer intensive course that introduces various areas of Linguistics (specifically phonology, morphology, and syntax) at the same time that highlights the importance of language documentation, description and revitalization. The target language for Summer 2024 is Zapotec. 50% of this course is designed so that students can get a basic knowledge of an indigenous language as a second language and be able to interact with the community of speakers. Same as LING 4920.
