My research activities are varied due to my dual nature as scholar and performer. This past fall my nasality and acoustics research has been a revived focus area of mine. Our first human subjects project at CU received IRB approval to investigate velopharyngeal opening variability in musical theater singers. This protocol has already been awarded the prestigious 2025 Van Lawrence Fellowship. Additionally I published an article in Journal of Singing on flipped classroom models in voice pedagogy courses, I finalized revisions on my Oxford Handbook of Voice Pedagogy Chapter on Online Voice Teaching, and presented a panel on the future of interdisciplinary research at the pan american vocology association's symposium. Another large focus of my creative/scholarly work continues to be the VocalFri Podcast. This fall we produced 13 episodes including 4 original content episodes and 8 guest episodes as we continue to be a leading source for cutting edge voice pedagogy and voice science information. I completed my PAVA Recognized Vocologist certification in December. My singing activities this fall were limited to the first faculty recital I performed along with colleague Dr. Reger in October.
