My work focuses broadly on the history of education in the U.S.-Mexico borderlands. In particular, I am interested in how education evolved in northern New Mexico and southern Colorado during the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Within this context, my current work focuses on how the struggle for land rights motivated educational development in Mexican American communities and how education fueled the land rights struggle.
