abstract

  • The effect of a weak local initial deviation from equilibrium on the motion of a Brownian particle is investigated. The resulting initial condition effects, which are excluded in standard projection operator treatments by a special choice of initial condition, are determined by explicit calculation based on the comparison of linear response and linear hydrodynamic predictions. The contribution of the initial condition to the particle equation of motion is found to be long lived, in contrast to previous conjecture.
