  • Dr. Cecilia J. Pang is first and foremost a theatrical director who brings an east-west fusion aesthetics to her work. She directs a diverse offering of theatre genres and styles from every era. Additionally, she is a documentary filmmaker and has produced films on Immigrant Opera Artists, Cantonese Opera Education, Artists and Motherhood. She has also published book chapters, articles and reviews and is a recognized specialist on the development Chinese Opera in the United States. But her research portfolio extends beyond the Asian theatre to include any subject that deals with Creativity, the guiding dogma for her research, teaching and service.

  • THTR 1003 - Acting 1: Introduction to Acting
    Primary Instructor - Spring 2020 / Fall 2021 / Fall 2023
    Introductory course designed to explore creativity, collaboration and communication in the craft of acting. Focuses on basic terms and concepts of psychological realism fundamental to the actors' process through solo work and ensemble exercises. Open to majors and non-majors.
  • THTR 3023 - Studio 2: Creating a Role
    Primary Instructor - Spring 2019 / Spring 2020 / Spring 2021 / Spring 2022 / Spring 2023 / Spring 2024
    Continued development of acting technique and tools for play analysis, with particular emphasis on scene study. Special attention will be given to the Master Teachers of Acting and their pedagogies.
  • THTR 3053 - Acting 2
    Primary Instructor - Spring 2023
    Continuation of the techniques introduced in Acting 1 (THTR 1003). Emphasis is placed on monologues and scene study of contemporary plays. Basic technique in developing a character are explored.

    Theory and practice of directing for the stage. Recommended prerequisites: two semesters of THTR 3035.
  • THTR 4149 - Theatre Internship

    Provides opportunities for theatre majors to explore career opportunities in theatre fields other than, or in addition to, those with performance emphasis. Students apply knowledge and skills developed in their major studies to a practical work experience. May be repeated up to 6 total credit hours. Recommended requisite: 30 credit hours in THTR.
  • THTR 5071 - Advanced Directing
    Primary Instructor - Fall 2018 / Fall 2019 / Fall 2020 / Fall 2021 / Fall 2022 / Fall 2023
    Advanced study of theory and practice of stage directing through examination of the work of leading directors, analysis of texts and classroom exercises. Instructor consent required.
