  • Ho's research interests are in the fields of Asian American literature and culture, multiethnic American literature, contemporary American literature, critical race and ethnicity theory, anti-racism theory and praxis. Two of her current book projects are a breast cancer memoir and a family autobiography that will consider Asian Americans in the global south through the narrative of her maternal family’s immigration from Hong Kong to Jamaica to North America. In addition to her academic work, Ho is active in community engagement around issues of race and intersectionality, leading workshops on anti-racism and how to talk about race in our current political climate.

  • ETHN 2304 - Introduction to Social Justice
    Primary Instructor - Fall 2022
    Provides undergraduate students with an understanding of how social systems, primarily the educational and health care systems, are key to understanding injustices and criminalization. Topics covered will include trauma and victimization, food and housing justice, educational justice, physical and mental health justice, mass incarceration, #BlackLivesMatter and restorative justice.
  • ETHN 3104 - Selected Topics in American Studies
    Primary Instructor - Fall 2023
    Critically examines American identity and experiences, past and present, focusing on ethnicity, gender, popular culture, and political culture. May be repeated up to 9 total credit hours. Recommended prerequisite: ETHN 2001.
  • ETHN 3105 - Selected Topics in Asian American Studies
    Primary Instructor - Spring 2022
    Intensive examination of a topic or issue affecting Asian Americans, such as the Japanese American internment during World War II, or Asian American social movements or community organizations. May be repeated up to 9 total credit hours on different topics. Recommended prerequisite: ETHN 1025 or ETHN 2001.
  • ETHN 6501 - Critical Race Theory: Soc Scnc Explrtn/Intrvntn into Crit Race St
    Primary Instructor - Spring 2021
    Offers an overview of the origins and evolution of Critical Race Theory (CRT). Critically compares and contrasts legal and extralegal social science approaches to CRT. Exposes students to the ways in which CRT and Critical Ethnic Studies conceptually interconnects via CRT-derived discourses such as Critical Race Feminism, Critical White Studies, TribalCrit, LatCrit, AsianCrit, DesiCriti, QueerCrit and Decolonial/Postcolonial Critical Race Theory.
