Dr. Jacobs's work is focused on gender and collective memory, particularly with respect to mass trauma and genocide. She looks at the cross generational transmission of trauma through an analysis of memorial culture and second and third generation Holocaust survivors. Her work also extends to more recent genocides in Bosnia and Rwanda. A second area of research is focused on Jewish identity among millennials in the United States.
