My work remains focused on Afroamerican Studies, Citizenship and public affairs, and Science, Technology and Society. Within these areas I have worked mostly on issues of education and social justice. I see myself primarily as a scholar/activist whose principal concern is with developing in his students a critical consciousness about themselves and the worlds they inhabit. More recently, I have begun to sharpen my focus respecting the differences between diversity (tolerance) and inclusion (power sharing) and their import for the melding of distinct cultures.
