  • Dr. Nugent studies online and classroom pedagogy to enhance student learning. Coordinator for English & LA Program. In 2019, added 6 LAs to campus classes and 3 LAs to online. Coordinates CTL/FTEP Making Teaching and Learning Visible initiative. Specializes in early modern English literature. Mentors graduate student instructors and new PhDs in online pedagogy. Mentors TAs in classroom and online pedagogy. Research interests include fostering online community, evaluating online learning tools, generating discussion with clickers in humanities classes, analytical writing instruction, rubric design, and multimedia creative projects. Dr. Nugent works closely with Norlin's Special Collections to enhance student appreciation for manuscript and print cultures via object-based, hands-on activities.

    Provides training and practice in writing and critical thinking. Focuses on the writing process, the fundamentals of composition, and the structure of argument. Provides numerous and varied assignments with opportunity for revision.
  • ENGL 3000 - Shakespeare for Nonmajors
    Primary Instructor - Spring 2018 / Summer 2018 / Fall 2018 / Spring 2019 / Summer 2019 / Fall 2019 / Spring 2020
    Introduction to Shakespeare. Introduces students to 6-10 of Shakespeare's major plays. Comedies, histories, and tragedies will be studied. Some non-dramatic poetry may be included. Viewing of Shakespeare in performance is often required.
