Dr. Hashway's research interests include animal models of disease, comparative medicine, and refinement of clinical and husbandry practices for laboratory animals. Much remains unknown about the impact of current laboratory animal management practices on specific animal models and subsequent translatability. Well-designed investigations into these impacts can provide more evidence-based support for adoption of refinements that improve both laboratory animal welfare and translatability of animal research.
