Petger Schaberg's current research involves four main directives: 1) to use video, poster, podcast, and social media persuasion in the context of lower and upper division writing & rhetoric instruction; 2) to develop teaching methods with ESL students to increase learning with native speakers in his CU classrooms; 3) to direct service learning projects with real-world clients to enhance student learning at all levels. 4) To improve students' ability to create viable writing solutions for a range of professional and popular genres and audiences.

Rhetorically informed introduction to college writing. Focuses on critical analysis, argument, inquiry and information literacy. Taught as a writing workshop, the course places a premium on invention, drafting and thoughtful revision. For placement criteria, see the arts and sciences advising office. Through selected reading and writing assignments, students consider ethical and social ramifications of science policy and practice. Treats design as a collaborative, user-oriented, problem-based activity, and technical communication as a rhetorically informed and persuasive design art. Taught as a writing workshop emphasizing critical thinking, revision, and oral presentation skills. Focuses on client-driven design projects and effective communication with multiple stakeholders. May be repeated up to 6 total credit hours.
