Dr. Gooseff's research is focused on the intersections of earth systems and ecosystems focusing on hydrology, solute transport, watersheds, streams and glaciers. His research focuses on stream-groundwater interactions, hyporheic exchange, stream/hyporheic restoration, and climate change in polar and temperate regions. Along with his colleagues and students, he conducts field experiments/monitoring and numerical modeling studies to uncover new knowledge about how natural systems function and how they respond to change. Dr. Gooseff is the lead PI of the McMurdo Long-Term Ecological Research project, based in the Dry Valleys, Antarctica. He also conducts research in Arctic Alaska and mountain watersheds in Colorado.
