Dr. Javernick-Will's research setting is the design, construction and management of engineering infrastructure projects and organizations. Her research group focuses on the sustainability and resilience of infrastructure, particularly the interface between social and built infrastructure systems, and the multinational organizations that deliver these projects. To study these topics, she integrates social considerations with technical factors, employing mixed or qualitative methods. A primary focus area encompasses pre- and post-disaster processes and policies that facilitate resiliency, risk-reduction, and recovery. Another focuses on sustaining, maintaining, and promoting use of infrastructure, such as water and sanitation, by communities and households. Within this area, she also focuses on collective action processes, networks, and systems that sustain service delivery. Within project-based organizations, she studies knowledge mobilization and knowledge networks.

AREN 4506 - Pre-construction Estimating and Scheduling
Fall 2018 / Fall 2019 / Fall 2020
Covers project management estimating and scheduling methods with an emphasis on the techniques used to create pre-construction estimates and schedules for architectural and civil engineering projects.
CVEN 5346 - Managing Construction and Engineering Projects and Organizations
Spring 2018 / Spring 2019 / Spring 2020 / Spring 2021 / Spring 2022
Explores organizational and managerial issues and concerns facing executives in engineering and construction organizations. Through readings, case studies, simulation exercises, and projects, students are introduced to and apply concepts of strategy, core competencies, vision, innovation, team dynamics, interpersonal influence, organizational design issues, and global projects to engineering and construction organizations.
