research overview

  • We study novel ultrafast nonlinear dynamics in photonic structures, and incorporate the dynamics to enhance the device performances with focuses on sensing and imaging applications. We are also interested in functional integration of photonic devices with microfluidic, MEMS, photopolymer, and 2D materials to broaden the scope of chip-scale sensing and imaging devices.

    Examines a special topic in Electrical, Computer and Energy Engineering. May be repeated up to 9 total credit hours.
  • ECEN 4606 - Undergraduate Optics Laboratory
    Primary Instructor - Fall 2018 / Spring 2020
    Introduces fundamental concepts, techniques, and technology of modern optical and photonic systems. Individual labs cover particular fields of optical technology, including light sources such as lasers and Leds, interferometers, fiber-optic communications, photodetection, spectrometers, and holography. Practical skills such as how to align an optical system will also be emphasized.
  • ECEN 4616 - Optoelectronic System Design
    Primary Instructor - Spring 2018 / Spring 2019
    Examines optical components and electro-optic devices with the goal of integrating into well design optoelectronic systems. Sample systems include optical storage, zoom lenses and telescopes. Same as ECEN 5616.
